Senior Rep-Meet Mr. "A"

I had the opportunity to photograph Mr. "A" this past weekend and I have to admit I really enjoyed the laid back feel of the session since I'm so used to chasing little ones around. He's joining my team of 2009 Senior Spokesmodels and is from Sharyland High School. He plays football too...if you couldn't guess! ;) I tried some funky processing on a few of these just for fun.

I can't get over how adorable Mr. H is! Don't you just love his red hair? :) He had a busy day yesterday because not only did he have his photo session, but his FIRST birthday party too! So, he had cake TWICE in one day! :) You guys are the cutest little family! I'm so glad that we could schedule this session before your big move. Thanks so much for dealing with the heat, humidity and thousands of attacking mosquitoes! Here's a little peek for you...

These photos were taken at The Feather Inn Bed and Breakfast in Weslaco. What a gem! If you haven't been, it would make a great late summer or early fall weekend escape.

Family Session with Sweet Miss S

I was so excited that we finally scheduled Janie's photo session that she received as a gift from her hubby! Isn't Mario the sweetest husband to give such a thoughtful gift for Mother's Day?! If my husband were to read my blog, I'd tell him to take notes! ;)

Rarely do I find a 2 year old who opens up to me so quickly, but little Miss S jumped out of her truck and gave me a big ol' hug within seconds! Two year olds are always a challenge because they are on the go and are so inquisitive, but I love that they keep me on my toes! She is such a sweetie and was a trooper in the heat and humidity! I think your next purchase needs to be a pond for the backyard! ;) Hope you enjoy this peek while I get your gallery up!

Out of the office

I will be out of the office Sunday, July 20 through Wednesday, July 23. I will have no access to e-mail during this time and am not sure of my availability to be reached via cell phone during this time either. All e-mails and voicemails will be answered after I return on Thursday. And because I realize no post is really fun without a photo, here's a peek of the holiday card designs. This can be ordered as a flat or folded 5x7 card and personalized with your family's name and custom holiday greeting. If you prefer more traditional or even funky colors, don't worry, everything can be completely customized from the font to the color scheme. There are tons more designs to choose from too. Today is the last day to pay for your holiday mini session to qualify for the free gift. It's going to be a sweet one!

I have four available session dates for the remainder of 2008! Thank you to all of my wonderful clients who have made this year so great and kept me busy! If you’ve been thinking of booking a session, now is the time. A price increase will soon take effect, so booking now will lock you in to the current pricing. Holiday delivery of prints will be guaranteed for all sessions that take place before November 14. Appointments are secured once the session fee retainer has been received.

The remaining session dates for 2008 are:

Any newborn appointments should be made at least 2-3 months in advance so I can have you scheduled and on my calendar. Newborns.....they are my most favorite tiny people to photograph! I could literally photograph them all day, every day! And it's easy to see why when I get such cute little models. Isn't Ms J a doll? She started off our session proving to be the most alert 4 week old that I've ever photographed. Not only was she was she completely aware of her surroundings, but she would actually follow me around and maintain eye contact with my camera! {A beach wedding}

I had the pleasure of photographing a longtime friend's wedding this weekend on the beach and it was so much fun taking pictures while getting sand between my toes! :) I've known Dallas forever and am so happy she found Neil to share the rest of her life with. Congratulations you guys. Don't I always get to photograph the cutest couples? :) The ceremony was right on the beach, so it took me back to my own wedding day. There's something so romantic about exchanging vows with the hum of the waves in the background...Everything about the day was perfect! Enjoy your sneak peek....

I love engagement sessions in general because I get to photograph two people who are so in love. I feel so blessed to be able to share in people's lives if only for a short time. And, it's amazing what I can learn about people in just a few hours. I hope these photographs tell you a little about Deborah and Lalo and their amazing love for one another. I got to see what a really cute couple they are, as well as how passionate they are toward each other. Their photos are so sexy! :) Don't you think?!?!

I have to admit that I was a bit nervous photographing not one, but two six-week old babies at the same time. But these little brothers were such sweethearts and made it so much fun for me. So I have to say, I now love photographing twins. Aren't the two of them together the cutest thing you've ever seen? I just can't get enough of Mr. R and Mr. H! I came home from a long work week and super stressed about the busy weekend I have ahead of me and my sweet sis-in-law sent me chocolate covered strawberries for Mother's Day. It was the sweetest thing and totally made my day. Thank you so much Perla! ;) After devouring two of them in a matter of minutes, I realized that I forgot to take pictures of them... :) I'm heeding the note on the box...."best consumed within 48 hours of receiving them." Not a problem! :)

Like a little vulture, she was! Sometimes mommies just don't want to share. But that face was just so pitiful....

I just wanted to share some pictures from the lingerie shower this weekend since I don't have any sessions to post. I had such a blast planning this with some friends and have to admit how much I secretly adore event planning. I love the details and that's what parties are all about. It was my first party at our new home too and my little house did not disappoint! Don't pay attention to my bare walls...hee hee. I can use the excuse that we "just moved in" for at least a year right? ;)

Her "pretty"....That's what she calls anything that resembles a tutu or pettiskirt. Some nights she even sleeps with one on because she refuses to take it off. So, I've capitalized on this love of all things girly...She gets to wear the pretty while mommy takes pictures. What a deal!

Just sharing a couple because it will be a few days before I have anything new to post. I'm getting ready for the shower I'm hosting for a friend on Saturday. I'll post pics of our "sweet" event after the fact.

{Fun to be 2}

I loved photographing my sweet little niece for her 2 year old portraits. Miss C keeps getting more grown up each time I see her. She's just adorable. We also took a couple of family shots. Don't they make a stunning family?! :)

I was lucky enough to be able to take these portraits at the most beautiful property in Weslaco - The Feather Inn, a charming bed and breakfast at one of the most well known historic homes in town, which has been immaculately restored. The natural beauty of this property is stunning and Cindy is the most gracious and hospitable host and owner! If you know anyone coming to town looking for a quality place to stay with history, beauty and excellent service, I highly recommend The Feather Inn. There will certainly be more photos to come at this location, especially ones that showcase the surroundings. This property is truly a jewel in the Rio Grande Valley...not to mention an excellent place for outdoor portraits! ;)

I'm so excited to announce that my Web site is now up and running! Yay! I've wanted a more professional face to my business for a while, so I've been feverishly working on it at 1 a.m. for the last couple of months. I'm still tinkering with it, so it will probably look different next week than it does today.

It's so fun for me to browse the galleries and think of the wonderful people I've met and the friends I've made these past 10 months. I finally brought my gorgeous tulips home so I could photograph them and enjoy them over the weekend. My hubby is the sweetest and most thoughtful person I know. I took some pictures of Maddie this weekend for her Valentine's Day card and I think I figured out the trick to getting some smiles. Bribery in the form of candy works wonders as you can see! It was messy...her hands, her clothes and ESPECIALLY the fit she threw when I took the lollipop away. She's so polite that she was screaming, "pease, pease" in between throwing herself on the floor. I have made some decisions regarding my 2008 sessions and I am only going to be doing about 2 sessions per month. If you want to set up a session for next year, please contact me as soon as possible to book your session, as they will be limited. January is already completely booked. I will try my best to squeeze in maternity and newborn sessions. As a full-time mother, wife and employee I need to make sure my priorities are in order and my family always comes first.

Also, I will be implementing a $50 session fee in 2008, as well as a $75 minimum print order purchase. If anyone books a session before the end of the year, I will waive the minimum print order purchase on sessions through the end of March. The session fee will cover the cost of the on location session, the photographer’s time and talent, a pre-session phone or e-mail consultation to ensure a smooth session and an online gallery with 20-40 retouched images. The full session fee is required at the time of booking.

Also beginning in 2008, all client galleries will be posted for 10 days. During that time friends and family may view the proofs and orders may be placed. When your gallery expires, there will be a $25 fee to repost for an additional week.

I've been attending professional workshops and am going to continue to do so to provide you with the best products and customer service! I do look forward to meeting some new clients, including a few newborns in February and in the spring.

My mom and I have started our annual holiday baking marathon. We did a batch of circus themed cookies and these poinsettias for some recent birthday parties. As much work as it is, I really look forward to spending this time with my mom and to seeing the finished products. I'll keep posting as we keep working!

I feel like I rarely get the opportunity to take pictures of Maddie. We went to a birthday party yesterday and I snapped these. She also rode a pony for the first time. AND I DIDN'T GET PICTURES! I know, I know. I'm sick about it. I walked alongside the pony with her and she clung to me with one arm with the tightest grip I've ever felt from her and waved with her other hand. Her hair is in that shaggy phase, but I have to admit that I love it!

Even though this wasn't Maddie's first Halloween, she was certainly aware that it was a holiday this year. Putting her in the costume went better than I anticipated. After a few minutes of tugging and a few pieces of candy she forgot that she was wearing it. She went trick-or-treating, waved hi to the masses of people coming up and down the street, and helped grandma and grandpa give out candy...while helping herself to a few. She was the cutest little fairy in town and received many compliments on her costume. Want a costume like that for your little one.

We visited Donna's Corn Maze and the Magical Pumpkin Patch today and I just wanted to share some pics of Maddie with the pumpkins. What should we wear?

I get asked this question a lot, and it’s tough to decide so I’ve decided to address this topic.

What’s most important is to wear what makes you happy and comfortable. But, if you’re looking for pointers and places to shop, then read on.

1. It isn’t necessary to wear matching outfits. Each person in your family is an individual and you should dress like the unique person you are. You should coordinate though. Try to stick with complimentary or similar color tones.
2. Have fun with your outfit choices! Don’t be limited by the traditional choices. I love color and funky patterns like polka dots and stripes. Don’t get me wrong…there is nothing wrong with traditional and timeless, but let your personality shine through in your outfit choices.
3. I love texture! Can’t go wrong with anything textured and layered.
4. The style of clothing should match. If the little ones are going to be in dresses (which I think is adorable!) and jackets, then mom and dad should be in a dress/skirt and jacket, so the photo has cohesive look.

The good life...

Maddie's caretaker had a death in the family, so I got to stay home with her today and be a "stay-at-home mom" for at least one day. Spending the day with her makes me wish I could be there for her every day! We started the morning out with a mini photo session, followed by a nap, then went to Target, met daddy for lunch at Chick-fil-A, went to Hobby Lobby, and rounded out the trip at PetsMart where Maddie fell in love with a puppy.

As usual she wanted nothing to do with having her picture taken. She was so interested in all of the acorns on the ground that I could hardly get her to look at me, let alone smile. This was all I could pull off before we both nearly passed out in the South Texas humidity.

I’ve been thinking about this ‘day before one’ post for a couple of weeks now. What would I say, how would I say it? How can I describe the emotions that accompany watching the growing of your first baby into a toddler, the turning of ONE YEAR OLD. So now that it is finally time for this post, I’m not sure what to say. All of the thoughts I’d put together so eloquently in my head in the lead up to today have fled and I’m sitting here looking at the screen, writing and then backspacing over the words and erasing them again. So I’ll just try this....

Maddie on your last day before one, you can: clap your hands, do “patty cakes,” wave hi and bye, say Dada, Mama, baba, and no.

You can walk and run, even though you seem so small. You can stick your tongue in and out like a lizard. And you open and close your mouth when we say, “How does a fish go?” You make the cutest “munchkin face.” You love to sing along when we sing to you. You love to dance and twirl around in a circle (the washing machine move) while listening to the “electronica” music channel. You have three teeth –“snaggletooth.”

You love to play with your toys and take them out of the baskets that daddy arranges so neatly. You love for us to read you books and you will bring them to us and get angry unless we do. You love to play ‘sneak up’ on mom and dad and scare us. Your hair is still too short to put into pigtails, although believe me I have tried.

You love to give hugs and kisses. You love to waltz with your daddy. You love to snuggle with mom and dad while you sleep. You hate having the covers on you. You can climb like a little monkey. You love being close to people. You have such a strong will and you are the most fearless little one I know. On your last day before ONE, even though you won’t remember it, I hope you will know how very very much your family loves you, and how much joy you have brought to us. I love you my Maddie.

Holiday Collection Promotion!

The holidays will be here before you know it and they can get crazy. To help you get an early start I am offering special Holiday Collections for sessions booked before September 14.

Collections include a mini session plus your choice of prints and beautiful custom greeting cards. Sessions must take place between 9/1/07 and 11/16/07. Just e-mail me with your package selection and preferred session date. Or you can just e-mail me to find out our available dates. After you pay for your session it will be in our books and I will then send out a packet with all the info you need. Then, you will have one less thing to worry about during the holidays.

No substitutions are allowed on collections. Sessions are for immediate family members only. Sessions must be booked AND paid by September 14 to qualify for our Holiday Collections promotion.

Q: What is a mini session?
A: A mini session is a 30-40 minute session at your home or the location of your choice. There are less outfit changes because of the time constraint. And, instead of 20-40 images I only show 10-15.

Q: Is there a difference in the sessions between packages?
A: Yes, the Gift Giver package includes a FULL session, not a mini. So, you will have 2-3 hours available on location if you wish, and the travel fee to the beach is waived if you would like to take pictures there.

A few things to consider:
The last session date for guaranteed Christmas delivery of prints is November 16. The last date to order for guaranteed Christmas delivery is November 30. A $25 travel fee to locations 30 miles outside of zip code 78596 will be assessed.

Need a last minute gift item? Gift certificates are available! Let grandma and grandpa choose their own prints from your session, or buy your sister and her family a session of their own. Gift certificates can be mailed to you, directly to the recipient, or even e-mailed if there is a time constraint.

Appointments are limited. We do advise you book as soon as you know you want a session to secure your spot.
